Cementing Joint Industry Project: Understanding and Optimizing Displacement Efficiency in Today's Cementing Operations
Apr. 17, 2019 | 11:30AM - 1:30PM | PVI Conference Room, Houston, TX
Description:
Cementing operations involve many variables and are critical to the successful construction of a well, but they can also be challenging to simulate and predict. Software is used to predict the efficiency of mud displacement, but is limited by a lack of sufficient research tied to the predictive calculations.
During this lunch and learn, we will present on our proposed joint industry project’s (JIP’s) scope and deliverables:
- Lab Testing
- Development of Computational Fluid Dynamics Calculations for Mud Displacement
- Software Numerical Simulation Study
- Literature Review
- JIP Forums
During this lunch and learn, PVI’s cementing software suite will be used to discuss:
- The importance of accurate, lab and field verified mud displacement calculations in today’s wellbores
- Variables that are important to mud displacement and how they affect horizontal wellbores vs. inclined and vertical wellbores
- The 350 lab tests varying inclination, standoff, and other variables
- The numerical study running 1,000 different scenarios for trend analysis
