Excess Lime

Lime is the common name for Ca(OH)2. It is a source of calcium and alkalinity. Excess lime (lb/bbl) in mud is used as an alkalinity buffer. Excess lime (lb/bbl) = 0.26 [Pm - (Fw x Pf)], where Fw=% of water volume /100.
