Critical Rate
Critical rate is the flow rate at which the flow of the circulating mud changes from smooth, or "laminar," to turbulent. It is corresponding to the Critical Velocity, which depends on multiple variables, but it is the Reynolds number that characterizes the flow of the liquid through a tube as either laminar or turbulent.
